The SingleStep Uprights are the perfect training tool to teach dogs to lengthen their stride between hurdles. This is especially useful for small height dogs who tend to take an extra step or two between jumps.
These uprights are identical to the ones used in our standard racing jumps but have two extra vertical slots added to the upright. These slots can accommodate a 4" slat+1" slat or a 2" slat+1" slat above it. With the 4+1" slats inserted, the top of the slats sit 1" below the main center board (7" base slat+1" top slat). This creates a wider arched jump, which still follows the dogs natural jumping motion. The jump can be used with either one, both, or neither of the two extra slats installed.
The idea of this hurdle is to provide both a visual and physical challenge to the approaching dog. Hurdles of this type have frequently been used in Agility. Once dogs are patterned to jump longer and farther on each hurdle, these training slats will no longer be necessary. Only uprights are included, need extra slats?
